No real reason for this picture. |
I attempted to cut round pieces from a sheet of 8x10 film. The scalpel method failed immediately. I held the bottom of the tin to the film and cut around it with scissors. It's okay, but I really manhandled (sounds so un-p.c.) the film. The idea is, if I can cut the film to the perfect size, I can simply pop it into the tin lid and close it up. No tape involved. Well, other than the tape around the outside to seal the light leaks. Despite my best efforts to subvert the process, the tins and film managed to continue on to make a few images.
I am now using a Fiskars circle cutter that I bought from a Michael's store. It works great! Some of the images have circular scratches in them. This is the result of accidentally cutting circles from 8x10 film with the emulsion side up. Once I cut the film with the emulsion side down (the correct way), things worked well.

Elk teeth. It was tough to get the elk to stay still long enough for this exposure. |

Rusty Cobweb. West Bethel, Maine This tin took a bite out of the image. I replaced the pinhole, but the bite is still there. Gotta go take a closer look.

I can't decide whether I like the Altoids Tangerine or the Citrus Sours better. The Tangerine Sours have a sweetness to them, while the Citrus Sours have a hint of salt. Like licking the rim of a margarita glass.
